I received a complimentary experience in order to facilitate my review of the Lincoln Escape Room. All opinions are my own.
One of my favorite ways to pass time has always been puzzles, mysteries, and games that make me think. Once I had my daughter and we began playing games together I realized that she also enjoys games that require some brain power.
We both enjoy playing the Can You Escape games on our phones and online so it was only a matter of time before we headed to an Escape Room to answer the question once and for all… Can You Escape?
On our way out to Colorado we stayed in a couple of different towns in Nebraska. This was our first time in the state and we were pretty excited to do a little exploring of local attractions. One of the most exciting places we visited was the Escape Room in Lincoln, Nebraska.
I have been interested in trying one of these rooms but I was not aware of any Escape Rooms in Cedar Rapids so I was sure to book an Escape Room while we were on vacation out West.
As soon as we arrived I knew it was going to be a challenge because due to some construction going on, the room we were initially supposed to get locked in was unavailable.
So we were sent to a room called, The Hacker which was meant for 8 people rather than the 3 the initial room we booked was meant to house. I was up for the challenge and didn’t even think twice about trying to conquer a room that a larger group would struggle with so we headed in to the room called The Hacker.
My daughter was most excited about this because she is pretty schooled in everything coding and computer related so she thought her expertise would help out. It turns out that was not the case, the room was decorated and set up to go with the theme of computer hacking but there were no hacking skills actually required to solve the puzzles and escape.
We figured that out after wasting some of our time trying to watch her calculate something she called binary code…don’t ask me, I am lucky I can turn my computer on.
I was pretty thankful that this creepy guy disappeared here and there off of the screen to give us clues along the way.
Some of the clues were helpful but since we were only 3 people it was impossible to escape this expert level room but we had fun trying.
Every time we were able to unlock a door or figure out a code, the game became more exciting. We worked faster as time went on and got a few different puzzles solved along the way.
After an hour our time was up but we enjoyed the family time we spent working together trying to answer the question… Can You Escape?
Even though we were unable to escape I have even more confidence in my families ability to escape a room meant for 5 or less. I can’t wait to try again and if we are ever in the Lincoln, Nebraska area again, we will have to return to try out the room we were originally booked in so we can say that we did escape!!!
