I am currently on a weight loss journey and I am sharing my tips to lose ten pounds easily in one month. Getting motivated can be hard but for me, an upcoming vacation is what is driving me to make a change. For as long as I can remember I have struggled with my weight and I want to share my story as well as tips and tricks for easily losing ten pounds in one month.

I remember the first time someone called me fat. I was probably about 9 years old at the time and let me assure you, I was far from fat.

My family somehow managed to get us a season pass at a local swim club and this day for whatever reason, I decided to wear a bikini. I don’t remember if it was the only one clean because we had just gone swimming the day before and our first choice bathing suits were probably still wet or if I specifically wanted to wear one for some reason but either way I remember being uncomfortable showing so much skin.

I kept adjusting the suit to try and cover more of my skin which looking back now probably made me a target for ridicule as it was obvious that I was uncomfortable with what I was wearing.

My parents may have scored us the season passes due to my brother’s best friend’s family being members. I didn’t care what the reason was that it meant we could swim as much as we wanted all Summer long! They had two kids, a boy who was my brother’s best friend and a girl who was around my age. I didn’t know her that well but since our brothers were best friends we crossed each other’s paths on occasion and for no good reason at all she had decided that she didn’t like me.

I never knew why nor did I really care but I remember having many interactions with her over the years, although I don’t remember one positive one.

She was a witch with a capital B!

As I entered the swim club with my sister, we headed over to the diving boards because we had just passed the test that allowed us to use them the day before and we couldn’t wait to get back up there.

As I came around the corner to wait in line for my turn on the high dive I stretched and pulled my bathing suit to make it cover more skin, it seemed to work for a split second before it bounced back to its small shape.

I knew it wouldn’t work for long but the pulling and stretching kept me busy while waiting for my turn so I continued on trying to fashion a one-piece out of this bikini. As I crept up closer to the front of the line I noticed the witch was waiting in the line next to mine and she had already been sizing me up for who knows how long before I noticed.

Once I started to climb the high dive she decided to yell, now keep in mind this was in front of all of the other kids waiting for their turn. She yelled out loud for everyone to hear, “Bikinis are not for fat girls!” and of course all of the other kids were now staring at me too.

I don’t remember what happened after that although I do know that I never wore a bikini again.

This is a picture of me right before I became pregnant with my daughter. In my opinion, I was the perfect weight here although at the time, I probably didn’t think so.

I have had a few extra pounds on me at times and I have been what I consider the perfect weight at times as well. I have always had ups and downs with my weight but it really began to be an issue for me when I was pregnant with my daughter.

Parenting & Letting Go

I gained close to 100 pounds during my pregnancy, I only lost some of it right away and most of it stuck around for a really long time. That means every picture I have of myself and my daughter from when she was little is a possible before photo for a weight loss commercial.

I hate that and it makes me regret not getting into better shape earlier. I always put everyone else first and didn’t think about myself for all of those years which gave me the perfect excuse to not do anything about my weight problem.

My biggest regret though is not getting into better shape before we saved and saved to take my daughter to Disney World when she was seven years old.

That memory is fantastic but the photos are not. I can’t stand how I look in every single vacation photo we have so I have decided to use that as inspiration to get into shape before our next family vacation to Colorado in June.

I have already lost ten pounds and am working on the next ten now. I could stand to lose a little more but I decided to start slow and share my journey as well as tips and tricks for losing the last ten pounds in one month!

Cut Carbs- Don’t panic, there are many foods out there that aren’t loaded with carbohydrates that you can still enjoy. You can still eat pizza if you want to but instead of eating the whole pie try eating just a couple of slices.

When eating a burger, remove half of the bun or if you are really motivated, remove the whole bun. Small changes like this can really add up in the long run. The fewer carbs you take in, the faster you will see a difference in your appearance, they have a tendency to make you look bloated.

Limit Salt Intake-  Just like carbs, salt can cause a visible difference in your appearance. It is best to avoid eating food high in sodium and not add any extra salt to your foods. If you are an instant gratification type person just cutting out these two things will have you noticing changes in your appearance within days.

Snack Smart- Don’t deprive yourself because that only leads to overeating when you finally break down in a pool of your own tears while clutching a package of cookies.

The best way to avoid throwing in the towel completely is to have smart snacks around your home, in your car, in your office, so you are never without a smart option when the craving hits. You can snack on things like veggies or peanut butter bars at home and stash packaged items like nuts in your car for when you are on the go.

Make Workouts Fun- It seems like everyone struggles to get to the gym at the beginning of a weight-loss journey because working out makes you think about hard work and that causes a lot of people to avoid it.

It’s best to keep in mind that after a few workouts, you will feel differently about exercise, you will even begin to enjoy it. Instead of heading to the gym try working out in fun ways like playing sports or dancing, working out doesn’t have to involve weights and machines!

Make Everything A Workout- Don’t make excuses that you don’t have time for a good workout because your schedule is packed. There is no reason that you can’t make your everyday chores into a workout.

When cleaning the floors get down on your hands and knees to really give them a good scrub while you get a good stretch. When you are running errands park far away at the store, take the stairs, do more walking whenever possible.

If you are taking the dog for a walk, head to a place with an incline or even turn your walk into a jog.

Get Enough Sleep-  Getting enough sleep is vital for your overall health and it is especially important when you are trying to lose weight. I am not going to go into the many studies that have been done to prove that lack of sleep and weight gain are related.

Just the simple fact that you need more energy to work out during the day should be enough reason to get more sleep at night, make it a priority.

Get Confident- Once you start losing the weight it can make it easier to move forward. I gained confidence in many ways during this weight loss journey and part of my confidence came from myself but I didn’t know until I found David Goggins. I read the book Can’t Hurt Me and learned how to use the negative experiences in life to improve myself. This book really changed my life and it has been changing a lot of people’s lives, I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to do better.

Tell me about your weight struggles and what is your motivation to lose weight?

That girl was evil. If she did that to me, she would know what fat is. I'm giving her one fat lip. Seriously! My husband said women are more critical than men when it comes to body shaming. He said men do not want bean poles for girlfriends or wives. Men want women who have "meat on their bones." You just go ahead and stay happy. As long as you are comfortable in your own skin, you are beautiful.
