Losing Weight While Eating Pizza,Cookies & Ice Cream


Since I started the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, I have lost 35 pounds and I am losing weight while eating Pizza, Cookies, & Ice Cream.  I eat all of my favorites but instead of letting someone else add poisonous ingredients to my foods, I make them myself.

How I lost 35 lbs. eating cookies, ice cream, & pizza

I leave out things like sugar, white flour, high fructose corn syrup, and other ingredients that have been known to pack on the pounds in the standard American diet.

I sweeten my cookies, cakes, and ice cream with honey or fruit. I bulk up my meals by adding extra vegetables or high protein foods that taste great and give my body the fuel I need to get through the day. I use to wonder how people would say, I forgot to eat lunch! I never forgot to eat any meals while following the standard American diet and the reason is that my body like most people, was addicted to the foods I was consuming. I wasn’t really hungry but I felt like I was due to the addiction, my brain was reacting like an addict going through withdrawals.

Now that I am no longer addicted to sugar and all of the other toxic foods I ate my entire life. I don’t get the cravings and urges to eat all of the time like I used to. I have actually forgot to eat lunch and it was quite the “Aha” moment, as Oprah would say.

I don’t feel deprived at all, in fact I feel like better than I ever have in my entire life. I still get all of the baked goodies but I use nut flours and coconut flour instead of the white and whole wheat flours typically used. The taste is great and in a lot of dishes the more natural ingredients give the foods a better, fuller flavor that even my friends and family not on the diet, love.

I never count calories. In fact I don’t pay any attention to the amount of food I am eating. A common misconception with dieting is that limiting calories is the only way to lose weight but the truth is calorie counting is unnecessary and could be stopping you from losing weight while most likely sabotaging your health at the same time.

Think of it this way, my calorie intake is similar to what it was when I was gaining weight but now I am losing it without effort. The reason is that the calories I am consuming now are from foods like nuts, fruit, vegetables, meats, and grain free breads. In the past I was getting calories from granola bars, salads, and breads that contained grains. To some people this may seem like a fairy healthy diet but the truth is all of the granola bars and salad dressings are full of sugars and other ingredients that will pack on the pounds instead of using the food as fuel for your body.

The diet I follow is called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, also known as SCD. I post a lot of recipes throughout my site using the ingredients allowed on the diet, feel free to check them all out here. My husband has also been dropping the pounds although he is not on strict SCD, he has enjoyed many of my recipes that I have made and has lost over 30 lbs as well.


Although I started to the diet to get off of my medication for Ulcerative Colitis, I have been keeping track of my weight loss along the way out of curiosity. I weigh myself about once a week on my Ozeri Precision Digital Bath Scale. Since I didn’t plan on losing weight with this diet, I am more curious when I step on the scale instead of anxious like some dieters. I love it because I can just step on without pushing any buttons and it will give me my precise weight measurement fast!

  1. I think any weight loss plan works as long as you follow it. You can lose weight watching calories, its just important to pay attention to what you fees your body.

    Great post. Its scary what sugar does and how we crave everything sweet related to sugar. I have often thought of honey to replace my sugar, I also love watermelon when I need a sugar fix. I like the idea of coconut flour as well.

    Over the last couple of months I have stopped eating meat. My mind went on strike and that was it. So while I don’t care for meat anymore I certainly am not at all prepared for my meals anymore. Its a whole new ball game for me. What I have noticed is my intake of sauces has increased and the are packed with sugar. So I decided that I would give myself six months of eating anyway I want so I can educate myself on how to add herbs and spice and make my own sauces. Thanks for the wonderful incentive to get back on track.
