With the holiday season upon us, it’s time to make your home guest ready and prepare for the houseguests you will be welcoming into your home soon. After many years of being the guest, I have a pretty good idea of what would make me feel welcome at my home away from home for the holidays.

Make Your Home Guest Ready

You can make you home guest ready with a quick trip to CVS where I picked up the essentials like Kleenex, HALLS, Smartwater, Premium Saltine Crackers, and Lysol Wipes.

Prepare for Guests

I found a lot of cool items while I was shopping and I plan on heading back and stocking up because starting Sunday 11/15 through the end of the week, if you spend $15 at your CVS store, you will receive $5 in extrabucks!

I love extrabucks, it gives me an excuse to pick up some things that I don’t necessarily need but I really really want and rewards me for buying things that I would have bought anyway. Like these essential items for when I am having guests come over for the holidays.

Prepare Your Home for Holiday Guests

When I got home, I got to work putting everything in it’s place and giving my home a good clean before my guests arrive.

High Traffic Areas Cleaning

I used the LYSOL Disinfecting Wipes on all of my high traffic areas because Lysol kills 99.9% of bacteria on soft surfaces. I wiped down almost every surface including the light switches, door knobs, remotes, handles, and faucets.

After wiping down all of the surfaces I stocked all of the areas in my home that I know guests will be spending the most time. I filled the tissue boxes with Kleenex and added HALLS to a few candy dishes throughout my home. It’s always great to have tissues and cough drops on hand.

Prepare for Guests Holidays

I then moved on to the guest bedroom to make sure my visitors will have everything they need. I want them to feel comfortable and truly make my house a home away from home for them.

I filled a decorative tray with items they could use during their stay and a welcome note. Inside they will find a list of their favorite channels since they may have a hard time finding their regular shows in my area.

I also left them a few magazines to look through while relaxing in the bed with tons of throw pillows. I really believe you can not over do throw pillows in a guest bedroom, they really make the bed more inviting and cozy.

Guest Ready Bedroom

I placed Premium Saltine Crackers and a bottle of Smartwater on the end tables so they can grab a quick snack and drink whenever they would like.

It really is the little details that make someone feel welcome into your home. If I was a guest at someone’s home with this kind of service, I may never leave.
