This Summer has been very relaxing, my daughter and I have slept in late every chance we got. We have taken advantage of not having to be anywhere early in the morning and have slowly started each day without worry. Now that Back to School season is approaching and we are going to have to keep our mornings on a schedule.
I have decided to stock up on supplies we will need to get back into the swing of things and rock our morning routine with these tips that will help you save time on those busy school days, too!
Leave Early – Whether you have to set your alarm 5 minutes early or just move a little faster in the morning, make it a habit to walk out of the door every morning about 5 minutes early. This has saved me many times when getting stuck in unexpected traffic, those times my daughter forgot something and we had to run back home, and when the weather slows us down.
Set out Clothes & Supplies – Always make sure all homework is done and anything that needs to be signed is done before bed. This will prevent a rushed homework assignment being done in the morning with a lot of mistakes. My routine is to check the backpack when my daughter comes home each day and before she does anything fun we make sure all of her homework is finished and stored in her backpack. We place it by the front door for easy access in the mornings.
Check Backpack – It’s always a good idea to do an inventory of the backpack before heading out of the house each morning. Just in case you missed something the night before and have your child run through a mental checklist to avoid any trips back home due to missing items.
Stock Up on Supplies – A lot of schools will give you a list of supplies you will need to pick up and I have even seen lists at my local Walmart from my daughter’s school with the required supplies for the new school year. We were lucky enough to find everything we needed from her school supply list and decided to get prepared for the morning routine while we were shopping.
Serve a Quick Breakfast – We headed to the frozen foods section and picked up Jimmy Dean® Pancakes & Sausage as well as Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Links & Patties which we found by the lunchmeats and bacon.
We stocked up on these items because they are the perfect easy high quality protein packed meal. Tyson Foods has Back to School covered with lots of quick options that eliminate mom guilt when trying to find great snacks or meals to serve your family during the busy back to school season. These convenient options are fast, delicious, and a great value!
Store Shoes by the Door – This one tip has saved my daughter from being late on many occasions. I think most parents can relate to the morning panic when their kids shoes decided to disappear right before you were headed out the door. Make it a habit to leave them by the front door so they are easier to find in the mornings.
Prepare Lunch – Prepare lunches and snacks the night before and store them in the refrigerator. Cutting down on the tasks that need to be performed in the morning helps eliminate possible tasks that could make you late.
I know these tips for How to Rock Your Back to School Routine are going to keep us on schedule this year and I hope they will work for you, too! What are some of your favorite tips or tricks to get back into the morning routine?
