My family usually isn’t the type to head out on Black Friday but we really wanted a television and a good deal this year. We were thrilled when we got such a great deal on a new television but we were really disappointed with the quality of sound.
We started looking into our options like sound bars, surround sound systems, and virtual surround sound. I wasn’t quite sure which would work for me until I found the Kilpsch R-4B soundbar and wireless subwoofer with virtual surround sound.
I was a little intimidated by the package when it arrived because I rarely set up our entertainment equipment but I didn’t want to wait until my husband came home to try it out.
After opening the package and placing my soundbar and subwoofer in my entertainment area, I began the set up.
I was amazed by how easy everything was to connect, it was really as simple as plugging it into the power outlet and hitting a few buttons to connect to my bluetooth devices.
I first tried listening to a playlist on my cell phone and once I hit the button to connect I seen the device pop up on my phone.
I clicked play and my entire home was filled with my favorite songs and I felt like I was front row at a Creed concert again but without having to fight for my spot constantly. I adjusted the settings and played with the volume of the subwoofer which connected wirelessly. Within seconds I found the perfect combination of bass and treble to enjoy every type of music.
I then hooked up a red and white audio cord to the soundbar and the other end to the headphone jack on my television. My television was not bluetooth ready so I needed to use a cord to connect but it’s great to have many options for connecting all of my devices.
I was excited to hear the virtual surround sound in action with my favorite movies and tv shows but when I was looking into how to connect my remote to the soundbar I was really impressed when I had found out that no codes were needed and it was already connected to control the sound from my DirecTv remote. So cool!
This was my first experience with virtual surround sound. In our family room we have several speakers strung throughout the room from our surround sound system and I couldn’t wrap my head around how just 2 speakers could possibly do the same thing.
Saving space is always on my mind when it comes to my home but not at the expense of quality, so I was really interested to see the pros and cons of virtual surround sound. When I watched a kid on television throw a football and I could hear it start on one end of the room and end at the other, I was blown away!
The soundbar is one speaker but somehow the sound surrounds you and brings the program to life, I had to look around for a minute in confusion before I realised what had just happened. It’s really interesting to see the reactions my dogs have to the traveling of sound across the room as well, they look just as confused as me!
