Achieving the Mind Body Balance

This post was sponsored by Nature Made® as a part of an Ambassador Program for Influence Central.

I have been trying my best to live a healthy lifestyle but sometimes it seems like life gets in the way. It seems like whenever I set a plan that is going to make a significant healthy change in my life, something always happens to put an end to it before it even begins.

I head to the store and pick up ingredients to make only the healthiest meals for my family but then the weekend comes and we eat fast food. It isn’t too hard to convince me to take the weekend off from cooking plus we are always so busy trying to get as much done during the weekend that we can so we are left with very little time for preparing healthy options.

I started trying to be more active when I do find some time but that only leaves me feeling guilty because the truth is most working moms have very little time for themselves. You are constantly having to make choices like should I shower or do the dishes tonight because there just isn’t enough time for both and I am exhausted!!!

Some days I feel like I am being pulled in a million different directions and even when I get a little time to myself my mind is so full of what I should be doing that I just can’t enjoy anything that is meant just for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love being a mom and wife but it really gets hard to find my mind-body balance sometimes.

The Dixon Family

I decided that I need to make a change even if it seems small or insignificant at first I know in the long run I will be thankful for the positive changes and not regret any effort put into making me the best me possible.

It’s kind of like on airplanes where they instruct you to put the mask on yourself before saving your family. If I am not healthy and at my best how can I properly take care of my family?

So I decided instead of eating out on the weekends I would make meals that allow me to store half and put the other half away for the next night. This gives me one night off from cooking and allows us to eat healthier because we are avoiding takeout.

I have decided to make family time a little more active by heading out to play games like frisbee golf or other family sports. This allows me to spend quality time with my family and stay active throughout the day.

I also decided to start walking more which seemed like the hardest thing for me to do because I never feel like it’s a good time to head into my neighborhood and start doing laps around the block. Instead of hitting the streets to get my exercise in I started walking around more when shopping.

When I head to Walmart I don’t rush through like I used to, I actually walk all over the store and you would be amazed at how many steps you can get in while shopping there! I first head over to the vitamins section which is located on the far left side of my Walmart.

I usually pick up my Nature Made® products since Walmart has everyday low prices so there is no need for me to stock up to save.
