As I get older, I am trying my best to age gracefully. I have been implementing tips for a Simple Bedtime Beauty Regimen to save time and get rid of all that needless preparation. I know I am not the only one with a lot to get done at night before bed, so I am sharing my tips to help everyone create a simple bedtime beauty regimen.

Braid Your Hair– To prevent unnecessary breakage and knots that form throughout the night, put your hair into a braid before heading to bed. If you are anything like me, your braids will not come out Pinterest ready, but that is fine since you are just heading to bed for the night.

Wash off Makeup– Always remove makeup from the day before going to sleep. Not only will it rub onto your pillow, which is gross, but it can clog your pores and cause breakouts. There are many makeup removers available and that can make it hard to choose which one is best for you. A basic guideline for me is to pick up a remover that is oil-based for your eyes and a cleanser for your skin that is oil-free. This part can be confusing, because it varies from product to product as well as from person to person. Find what works for you and stick with it as part of your bedtime beauty regimen.

Brush Teeth & Floss– Even if you haven’t eaten anything since dinner, it may be a good idea to get into the habit of brushing right before bed. Getting rid of any bacteria that may have invaded your mouth is a good addition to your bedtime beauty regimen. I have never regretted brushing my teeth, although there are times I have regretted not brushing, so I always brush before bed. Grab some floss while you are at it, and make sure there is nothing left in your mouth that could potentially breed bacteria and cause plaque to form on your teeth.

Get Good Sleep– Getting a good night’s sleep is not only beneficial to the way you feel, but it can also impact the way you look. Not getting enough sleep can affect the moisture level of your skin, and it can leave it looking dull or worn out. It’s best to get to bed on time each night and be sure you are following your bedtime beauty regimen to help stay in the habit.

Differin® Gel– It is the only prescription-strength retinoid available over the counter for preventing acne and clearing up the acne you already suffer from. It’s the newest advancement and ingredient in the OTC acne category in over 30 years! I was lucky enough to try this product out, and I am excited to share how it worked for me over the past couple of months.

You can pick it up in the beauty aisle section at Walmart. In my store, this section is located on the front wall of the store by all of the personal care items. Differin® Gel has a long-standing heritage as a proven acne treatment, but it is now in the OTC acne section.

When I started using this product, my main concern was the acne that appears on my chin. That area seems the most prone to breakouts. I hate the way acne is so unpredictable, and when I have a fun photo opportunity, it never seems to be on one of the days where my acne is in hiding. I recently had the opportunity to meet an actor/comedian I have liked since I was a kid, and the photo that I have from the experience shows my acne front and center.

That photo was enough of a push to actually do something about this acne problem that I have struggled with my entire life. My bedtime beauty routine didn’t include anything that was helping me with acne, but when I added Differin® Gel, I knew I would get the best results if I applied a thin layer to my face, once a day, every day.

I began using Differin® Gel in my daily bedtime beauty regimen, and I took photos along the way so I could see the results and share them with you. Differin® Gel clears breakouts from deep in the pores where they start, and it prevents breakouts before they begin. As a result, it restores skin’s texture and tone. Please use caution when using Differin® Gel with more than one acne treatment or glycolic acid product because this could lead to irritation.

After weeks had passed, I started to see the acne clearing up, but I was a little skeptical still as my acne has always been the kind to come and go.

I really started to notice a difference during this time, but I had read that it is possible for your acne to seem worse before it gets better, so I waited for that to happen. Thankfully that wasn’t the case for me.

At this point, my bedtime beauty regimen was a permanent habit for me, and it was easy to continue to use the product since I knew it was working. You still need to moisturize when using Differin® Gel, and it is recommended that you use Differin® Balancing Cleanser and Differin® Balancing Moisturizer in your skincare routine to maintain healthy skin. It’s easy to remember when you make it part of your bedtime beauty regimen. This way you can continue to use these products even after your skin looks clear, in order to prevent future breakouts. I think anyone with mild to moderate acne should add this product to their bedtime beauty regimen.

I am happy to have found something that actually works for me, and now I can take all of the photos I want without being self-conscious. Use these tips to improve your bedtime beauty regimen and go to to get $2 off Differin® Gel and use it on your next shopping trip to Walmart!

I'd love to braid my hair at night but I don't know how to french braid. My hair is always wrapped around my neck!

Washing your makeup off is SO important. I can't tell you how many times I went to bed and forgot to wash it off and woke up with nasty blemishes.

I've never thought of braiding my hair before going to bed. That's interesting. I might give it a try one of these days. Thanks for the tips!

It is so weird because using nothing on my face at all means I normally don't have acne. However I get dry skin. When I rarely use make-up, I break out a bit! Using most moisturizers causes it too actually! I was a lucky teen who didn't really have such issues. Working on them from time to time as an adult isn't fun. So my answer is to use make-up rarely! I need to figure out the moisturizer part though soon!
