One of my favorite ways to decorate my home for each new season is with DIY projects and crafts that I make myself, preferably with my daughter during some fun bonding time. Just like everyone else, sometimes it’s Fall before I know it and I have little time to tackle a new Fall DIY project. When that happens, I am glad that I have some Fall crafts from previous years to decorate with which is why it is so important to create quality Fall Decor, it will last a lifetime.
When I was a kid, I would watch all of the home decorating shows like Trading Spaces and catch every crafty appearance Martha Stewart would make, dreaming of the day I could have the supplies to make these things myself.
I also remember the first time I ever heard of chalkboard paint, Martha Stewart was doing a spot on the Rosie O’Donnell show I think it was and she created a chalkboard on the back of a door. This blew my mind! I saved my money until I could afford to buy my own can of this magical stuff they were calling Chalkboard Paint. I was a kid and getting a ride to the store was not easy but I managed to talk a parent into a trip to the store Martha recommended and it turned out that nobody else watched that segment and nobody knew what the heck I was talking about.
They actually said things to me like “Chalkboard paint? I think you are confused about what you need honey, you can’t paint on chalkboards” and “Do you mean chalk?”
I was so mad at Martha Stewart, this is 20 years later and I still hold a grudge but it all worked out because now I have a lifetime supply of chalkboard paint and know where to get more when I run out.
You can even get it in different colors from Amazon now and all I wanted was basic black, it just shows you that dreams really do come true, no matter how weird they are.
Those dark days are what I think about when I make time to get creative, be crafty, and tackle some fun DIY projects. I think everyone would be less stressed and the whole world would be a much happier place if we all spent a little time each week creating something we love, it’s good for the soul.
That’s why I want to share some fun DIY projects that are not only fun to make but they are perfect for Fall.
