Fun Ways to Improve Health & Wellness for Your Family
Like most parents, my daughter is the most important person in my life. I am always on the lookout for the best ways to give her the best life possible although sometimes I feel I have dropped the ball. That mom guilt kicks in when I realize a whole weekend has passed and we barely moved off of the couch.
It’s nice to know that we spent a lot of time together but I would like to encourage more physical activity because I feel better when we get a little exercise in during our time together. That doesn’t mean we have to go for a jog or do push ups because there are plenty of ways to improve your health while having fun.
It seems I am not the only one who feels this way as “I Feel Better When’ is a key mantra for Boys & Girls Clubs of America as we start this new year.
This phrase is all about how small behavioral changes can have a long term positive effect on your entire family’s lives. Triple Play is focused on making these healthy lifestyle changes at a young age.
Triple Play is The Boys & Girls Club of America’s health and wellness program that serves young people by giving them the tools along with the knowledge necessary to put them on the path to making better choices throughout life.
The Boys and Girls Club of America receives national support from The Amerigroup Foundation and Coca-Cola making it possible to operate Triple Play.
I love the inspirational message of getting out with your family and taking steps to improve health while having fun. When I was a kid The Boys & Girls Club of America allowed me to enjoy fun activities and get outside to have fun. As an adult, I have supported the Boys & Girls Club of America by attending events that they host in the area.
Here in Cedar Rapids they offer a fishing contest every year called Fish-O-Rama which encourages the entire community to bring their family out for a day of fishing for prizes. Every tagged fish you catch gets you a prize and the entry fee goes to The Boys & Girls Club of America, it’s a lot of fun!
This has inspired me to compile a list of fun activities that your entire family can enjoy while getting some physical activity.
