Gluten Free Cherry Tarts

If you are looking for a delicious gluten-free dessert recipe that is bursting with cherries, these gluten-free cherry tarts are perfect!

This recipe can be made with fresh cherries when you have a lot of juicy cherries on hand during peak cherry season or during the off-season with frozen cherries.

Plus if you are following a gluten-free or sugar-free diet, you can enjoy these tarts without any of those forbidden ingredients.

Although if you prefer to use all-purpose flour and sugar to create this recipe, it’s an easy swap that will still deliver delicious results.

Gluten Free Cherry Tarts

My daughter and husband love that time of year when cherries are readily available and they usually grab a bag, head to the porch, and have what they call a cherry party.

It may not be as visually appealing to everyone but watching the two of them pop a cherry into their mouths and spit out the seeds into the yard, is one of the most adorable things I have witnessed.

There is nothing like a good snack to bring people together and encourage them to create fun memories.

When cherries aren’t as easy to get our hands on we grab a bag of frozen and make these gluten free cherry tarts for the whole family to enjoy together.

Ingredients for Gluten Free Cherry Tarts

What you will need:

  • 2 Cups of Gluten Free Flour
  • 2 Sticks of Room Temperature Butter
  • 2 Cups of Honey (Divided)
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Cups of Cherries (frozen works great)
  • Cupcake tin with cupcake liners

How to Make Gluten Free Cherry Tarts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a cupcake tin with paper cupcake liners.

In a mixer, combine the gluten-free flour, butter, and honey.

Mix until well combined and it becomes a dough form.

Press into the cupcake liner inside of a muffin tin.

Pop the tarts into the oven for about 10 minutes or until they begin to brown and form a solid tart.

Bake for 15- 20 minutes keeping an eye on them to make sure they don’t burn.

The time varies each time I cook them probably depending on how well the ingredients are mixed.

So at the 15-minute mark be sure to check them then pop them back in if they need more time but be careful not to let it go too long before checking again.

In a small saucepan bring cherries to a boil while stirring periodically being careful not to let them burn to the bottom of the pan, as they become hot begin crushing them with a fork.

Turn down the heat to medium/low and add honey and vanilla. Stir well.

Cook for a little bit longer, until everything is well blended together.

Once it cools enough to work with and has become a jelly-like consistency, add the cheery cherry mixture to the tarts and allow it to cool.

I think these taste best when stored in the refrigerator for a couple of hours but my daughter enjoys them hot right out of the oven.

I suggest you experiment and see which way your family enjoys these cherry tarts most.
