How the LivingWith™ Mobile App Helps Manage Life With Cancer

Thank you Pfizer for sponsoring this post. Join Pfizer’s This Is Living With Cancer™ initiative by sharing your story with #InspirationLives on Facebook and Instagram to support and inspire those who have been affected by cancer, and be sure to check out the LivingWith™ mobile app available via iTunes and Google Play.

No matter how strong of a person you think you are, when you get that life-changing diagnosis of cancer, you will need all of the strength you can get from within as well as from family and friends.

When my mom got her initial diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma back in 2006, I wanted to help her in any way I could, but I had never dealt with anything like this before and was unsure of how to go about it.

She still had to live her life, despite that fact that cancer was attempting to take it away from her and from all of us, but there were lots of struggles put in her path.

There were chores piling up, errands needing to be run, prescriptions to be filled and meals to be cooked.

Just because her life felt like it had made a huge turn in direction didn’t mean that her daily mundane activities would stop needing to be taken care of—and that was where family and friends came in.

She needed help managing her daily tasks, doctors’ visits and keeping her sanity through it all.

I was happy to help, but at times was unsure of where I was needed most. Now there is an app to make it easier.

Pfizer offers This Is Living With Cancer™, a national awareness program that includes a free mobile app for anyone living with cancer called LivingWith™. It is designed to help manage some of the daily challenges faced by people living with cancer.

There are many useful features designed to help you manage your life with cancer.

You can store important documents like medication details and test results.

At the touch of a button, you will now have access to all your recorded notes from doctor visits, as well as an easy way to stay connected with loved ones.

You can also send requests to family and friends for help with meals, rides and other support.

I love this feature, especially because there were many times when I would be available to help but did not know how. There were also a few times when I was overwhelmed and would have loved to delegate different tasks to each person in my mom’s circle of supporters.

It’s nice having someone to lean on when you need it, and it feels even better to be the person to help out when someone you love needs it most.

You can even keep track of your well-being as well as find news, community events and other support personalized by cancer type.

Thankfully, the LivingWith mobile app really simplifies the things that most of us struggle with when trying to navigate life during such a hard time.

For more information about Pfizer’s This Is Living With Cancer, and to download the free LivingWith mobile app, please visit www.ThisIsLivingWithCancer.com. Patients and their loved ones also can find the initiative on Facebook and Instagram.

I cannot imagine going through something like this. I can't imagine the worry and the strain. It's nice to know that if you are going through it, you have something that can help take some of the stress off.

This is wonderful! Do you think this app could work for the elderly with dementia? I'm only asking because a loved one can help keep track of medical records and doctor's notes and things like that when the patient can't remember. I think an app like this is great!!

Wow, I think about how much technology has saved me time. I never considered how it can help a cancer patient. I remember when my loved one was in the hospital this would've really helped us. I am sorry to read about this but I am glad you shared this info about the app.

This is such a great use of technology. The situation isn't a good one, but I'm happy that technology can be of use.

This is so great! My grandmother passed away from cancer and it really impacted our family hard. I would have loved to have this app for my mom while she was taking care of my grandmother.

I think this is a very valuable app. So useful to patients and relatives and family. When we had someone close to us diagnosed with cancer, we too did not have an inkling of what to do. An app like this would have been a tremendous help.

It is so nice that they have something like this that takes everything you need and keep it one place that you can pretty much always have with you. Way more portable than a big binder.
