This review/giveaway of MacGyver The Escape Room Game does not contain spoilers to ruin your game. Keep in mind that I received this product in exchange for my honest review, all opinions are my own.
I have always loved playing games with my family, even as a kid. I remember how excited I was to get games like Hungry Hungry Hippos, Guess Who, and Don’t Wake Daddy for Christmas. I begged everyone to play it with me, I didn’t care that those games were not as fun for the older crowd because they were my favorites. I would play the games they liked most in exchange for them to play mine which made me crave a family game that everyone could enjoy even back then.
My dad bought me Dungeons and Dragons one year for Christmas. I guess he was really into that game as a kid which surprised me because Dungeons and Dragons is usually synonymous with the nerdy crowd but that is not the image my dad painted of himself as a teen.
This was the same guy who beat up Bon Jovi and had uncles who were indicted on organized crime charges, I couldn’t believe he played such a dorky game. So I decided I should give it a chance just in case it was cool like he said it was.
It was Christmas and we couldn’t take the time it would take to play so we put it away with the intention of taking it out when we had time. Apparently, that time was Never:30 so I didn’t get any further than spinning the little castle thing that turned one player into another. Too bad the castle didn’t have the power to turn my dad into someone who wanted to play the game because I never got a chance to actually try it out.
That is why I am so excited to play MacGyver The Escape Room Game with my whole family. It has all of the elements to make a game fun for the whole family in my opinion.
- It’s based on a character we all know and love, MacGyver. I remember that crafty mullet rocking fella got himself in and out of some pretty sketchy scenes.
- It’s an Escape Game which is always fun in my opinion but it can be tricky because the instructions are hard to follow in some cases and even with hints you may be confused about steps throughout the game. It’s easy to overlook important details and steps in this fast-paced game so keep your eyes peeled.
- The whole family can play together, the box says as long as each player has passed third-grade math. I think even younger kids can play but will need the assistance of their parents on some steps. The game is designed for teamwork so it can be enjoyed by everyone no matter their skill level, as long as they are patient.
- You can’t get sick of it because it can not be played again and again, it only has five different missions so once you play them win or lose, you can no longer play them. Each game is timed so be sure to have everything ready and read the instructions fully before beginning.
