My family is getting ready for our upcoming road trip to Colorado and I have compiled a list of must-have products that you can’t forget on your next road trip!

Road Trip Essentials for Family Travel

When I was a little kid, my family traveled a lot. We took a lot of family trips from New Jersey to Virginia to visit our family.

My favorite part of every road trip we took was stopping at rest areas and getting snacks! Now I know as an adult that rest areas and gas stations don’t really have a healthy selection so I try to plan ahead to make sure my family has the best when traveling.

I was excited to try out every flavor of Rise Buddy but my favorite was the pizza and my daughter especially enjoyed the sour cream & onion flavor. We will be stocking up on these snacks for our upcoming road trip so we don’t have to get gas station snacks loaded with additives and all around bad ingredients.

Rise Buddy is made with 100% Whole Grain from Brown Rice, Gluten-Free, Trans-Fat Free, Oven Baked, Not Fried, Education Smart Snack Approved, Crispy Texture and delicious flavors to satisfy any craving!

These snacks are not only perfect for road trips and family travel but my daughter brings them to school for snack time and I like to eat them with lunch instead of traditional potato chips.

Although we hope everyone is at their healthiest so they can enjoy traveling with the family and not get sick on the road trip, sometimes these things happen. It is best to be prepared just in case someone isn’t feeling their best so I like to pack an Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner™ thermometer.

A softly illuminated display for easy reading in any light – perfect for checking the temperature of a sleeping infant in a darkened room. Beeping sound indicating scanning can be turned off or on to avoid waking a sleeping child. Automatically retains the last eight temperature readings for instant recall to check on fever progression. Ability to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius modes.Sold in major retailers including Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Costco, Babies “R” Us, Toys “R” Us, Kroger and BJ’s, the Smart Glow thermometer’s suggested retail price is $49.99. For more information visit Exergen’s website.

Road Trip Essentials for Family Travel

Since my family is headed to Colorado, we know that there will be many walks, hikes, and time on our feet. Even when we are traveling through Iowa, Nebraska, and Colorado, there are so many things to see while on the road that I know we will be stopping often which means, even more, time on our feet.

There are places I want to see right here in Iowa like the famous bridges in Madison County and that means we will be getting out of the car to take lots of photos. I don’t want to abuse my feet before we even reach our destination on this road trip so I am planning ahead with gel insoles from AirPlus. Super comfy and perfect for everyday use, like my husband’s grandmother always says, you need to take care of your feet. She is one of the wisest and most selfless people I have ever known, so when she speaks, I listen.

Road Trip Essentials for Family Travel

My favorite must have product for any road trip is this MultiSync Foldable Travel Keyboard from Kanex. My husband is a driver for a living so whenever we travel, especially on long road trips, he likes to be the one that drives. That is completely fine with me because that means I get to catch up on work while on the road. Well sometimes, other times I get a little grouchy and controlling so I insist on driving. Those are known as the trips that take longer because following directions even when a gps is telling them to me is just not my thing.

I love the convenience of having a full keyboard with me everywhere I go and when I am in a car during a long road trip, it really comes in handy to have this travel keyboard. The foldability allows me to slip it into my purse and have it with me everywhere I go.

Instead of bringing a laptop with me to write emails or blog posts, this handy dandy (Blue’s Clue’s anyone?) foldable travel keyboard allows me to get everything done without the fat finger small button problem I usually have when typing on my phone.

Although the intention of trying this product out was for our road trip, I can see myself using it on a daily basis. It is a huge time saver for me because I can type really fast on the keyboard and get things done in less than half the time that I would on my phone.

Mouthwatchers- Everyone needs a toothbrush no matter where you are visiting while traveling. This is the best travel toothrbush to pack because it eliminates 99.9% of bacteria that builds up on bristles in 6 hours with EPA- approved silver bristle technology.

It boasts revolutionary Flossing Bristles™: long, soft bristles with 1 micrometer diameter tips reach areas missed by other toothbrushes. It will get deep into teeth grooves and pockets for a superior clean while allowing comfort because of the comfort grip handle and high quality construction. It uses PBT bristle material which outlasts traditional nylon used in competitive brushes.

Ameri-Bag- You never really think about the importance of a comfortable bag until you have been carrying it for hours and your shoulder or back is sore. Thankfully their is a healthy back bag hat will make those uncomfortable hikes a thing of the past!

This high quality tote has been carefully crafted from expert designers and doctors to ensure you stay pain-free with the ultimate comfort and balance. With this essential gear, you’ll be comfortable and cute no matter where the next adventure takes you.

Some of my other must-have items for family travel and especially road trips are:

Travel Blanket because car naps can help pass the time, a Travel Pillow, for the same reason. I also suggest having a cooler, a good camera, a gps, and of course in case there is no signal, a map of the are you will be traveling through is always a good idea for any road trip.

These are GENIUS ideas! I would never have thought of some of these suggestions but now that I think about it , they make PERFECT sense. Why wouldn't you bring a thermometer!? I remember once having to run to the pharmacy and buy a new one just to check my daughters temp while we were away!

This is a great list of products! Some of them I didn't even think of needing while on a road trip!

I see these types of lists a lot, but none like yours! This was the most unique road trip checklist - who would think to bring along a thermometer or foldable keyboard? Genius.

We love going on road trips. And after we got the gps, we stopped bringing the map with us. I surely haven't thought of the possibility that we could run into places with no signal. Thanks for the idea! :)

My family and I enjoy going on road trips during this time of year. I have never thought of bringing things like a thermometer or foot inserts, but they're wonderful ideas!
