Easy Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

When I was a little, my favorite grandmother would come to visit for days at a time.

She would always bring a duffle bag of crochet to work on, gifts for the kids (usually costume jewelry) and a carton of cigarettes to smoke while sipping her instant coffee.

She always stayed long enough to clean our entire house, cook a bunch of meals to freeze for us to reheat after she went back home, and watch at least one Walker Texas Ranger marathon.

I learned so much from her during those visits.

Over the years, I have forgotten so many details about my childhood but I remember everything she has ever told me, in her voice, followed by her distinct laugh which actually sounded like the words Ha Ha.

I also think of her when I cook a meal she taught me to make like this Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions Recipe.

Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

We all have that one meal that reminds us of our childhood.

A grilled cheese sandwich reminds me of the many times my siblings and I would toast our bread then add a couple slices of cheese before turning it into a grilled cheese by popping it in the microwave.

This was long before grandma taught me to make her delicious Sausage Peppers and Onions meal.

I didn’t even know it was possible to make grilled cheese in a skillet until I was 13 and met my friend, Amber who taught me the normal way to make it.

Obviously, her way turned out to be superior in both flavor as well as texture and is the only way I would eat one these days but the toaster to microwave method has always popped in my head when frying up a grilled cheese sandwich.

Stir-Fry reminds me of the first time I tried to cook for my husband, I attempted to make a Chinese dish on a whim, something I have never attempted before, way before Pinterest.

It did not go well.

Thankfully that didn’t scare him away and I really admired the way he choked it down although it tasted terrible.

I should have made him this Sausage, Peppers, and Onions recipe because it is so easy and delicious!

I was just gifted some sausages and I was not sure how to prepare them. I will go to the store and get some peppers, I love how easy this is to prepare and also adding the veggies to it will make it healthy but something my kid would eat.
