This post sharing How My Family Saved Money with Technology is brought to you through a sponsored post with Best Buy. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own.
My husband and I work hard and we like to relax at the end of each day with a movie or tv show. This used to be as simple as flipping on the television to find something that has recorded on our DVR then one day we noticed we are watching less and less programs because most of the stuff available was complete garbage. That is when we started thinking about how much money we pay the cable company to provide us with a service that we don’t really even use anymore.
We have been hitting every discount dvd rack we came across and loading up on movies we find for good deals at garage sales. We have so much entertainment in our movie binders and on the streaming apps like Hulu that it seemed we hardly watched any shows on our DVR, so why were we still paying for it?
Once we did the math and found out that we would be saving close to a hundred dollars a month by dropping our cable service, we made the phone call to cut the cord officially. We picked up a Google Chromecast and now we can
watch movies, shows, live TV, YouTube, and photos on our TV streamed from all of our family’s devices.¹
I love being able to access YouTube on my television and have driven my family crazy by playing my recipe videos on the big screen and cycling through all of my favorite photos.
I have it set up to share all of my favorite photos and I recently came across this photo of my daughters thirteenth birthday cake with Daisy as a puppy plastered on top.
I have seen so many photos that I have forgotten about, some of these I don’t even remember taking but I love looking back and seeing them again.
I was blown away by how easy the Google Chromecast was to set up and how many features it has to offer. Below I wanted to share some information that I have received from Best Buy about the Google Chromecast.

Getting entertainment so easily and cheap has helped us put a little extra money away each month without even noticing it. My only regret is that we didn’t cut the cord earlier, think of all of the money I was throwing away, yikes!
