The new year has begun and it seems like it has already started to fly by! I feel like the holidays just happened but Tax Season is already upon us! This can be a really stressful time for small business owners like myself because there are so many details to sort through and if you don’t get organized throughout the year when tax season approaches, it can be really stressful.

These tips for tax season prep are a great way to get organized and prepare the right way.

Not only am I filing for this tax season but I am preparing for the next tax season. I want to make sure I set myself up to save as much time as possible when preparing for tax season. To make both projects easier, I headed to Staples to pick up the DYMO LabelWriter® 450 Value Pack to help me with all of my tax season preparation needs.

Staples DYMO

I liked the value pack because it comes with a roll of LW Appointment Card Labels, LW Shipping Labels, LW File Folder Labels and LW Multi-Purpose Labels so I am able to do multiple projects within minutes of opening the box.

Another great  feature is that the thermal printing technology eliminates the need for expensive ink or toner. Now I won’t have to head to the store in hopes of matching up my old cartridge with a new one that will fit my machine. It seems like I can never remember which one I use, maybe they move them at the store just to mess with me.

The solution for your labeling, filing and mailing needs, the LabelWriter® 450 saves you time and money– all without the hassle of printing sheet labels on a desktop printer. In fact, the DYMO LabelWriter® 450 Value Pack is now free when you purchase 4 LabelWriter label rolls!

Tax Season Organization

The most important tip for preparing for tax season is getting organized! Keeping everything in order is essential to helping you find every expense and profit that needs to be reported. This is not an area where you can afford to make a mistake.

With the DYMO LabelWriter® 450 Value Pack I can label files to keep track of receipts, business expenses, and proof of all of these transactions as they come in.

Oddly enough after purchasing this machine I started seeing it everywhere and noticed that even my dentist office uses it! They print out all of their appointment reminders with it and it’s nice to have a peel and stick reminder to put right on my calendar. You Create custom labels from 60+ label styles and layouts to help you with all of your projects.

Prepare for Tax Season and Get Organized

The DYMO LabelWriter® 450 Value Pack has been a big help this Tax Season, here are some more tips for getting prepared and using DYMO to help save time when preparing for taxes as well as stop procrastinating.

  • Label Everything– There is nothing worse than fumbling through files and stacks of papers when you need a piece of information.
  • Keep All Proof of Expenses & Profits– Nobody wants to get audited but in the unfortunate case that you do, having proof will help you justify any claims or errors made by you or the government. Most experts suggest hanging onto your tax information for about 5 years.
  • Keep Files that Make Sense– Make sure your filing system is working for you and not against you. If you file one expense under the type of expense and another under E for expense, you are going to overlook possible deductions during tax season, nobody wants that!
  • Keep a Hard Copy-Although technology has advanced and people seem to really trust in some invisible cloud that I nor Rocky can seem to find, you need to have a hard copy in case of emergency. You may need to access this when you have no data, no wifi, forgot your password, or whatever else the cloud summons from you.

When I am not using the DYMO LabelWriter® 450 Value Pack I can save conserve power with sleep mode and take a break without wasting energy.  When I am ready to get back to work everything is ready for me because I can save my label for later with  Microsoft® Word, Excel®, Outlook®, QuickBooks® and other programs or easily print addresses from Outlook® Contacts or Mac® Address Book.

Tax Season Preperation

I was able to update all of my contacts by printing out their information without having to scribble over my mistakes. I can easily reprint if necessary or just double check my work before I make the first copy, that’s what I love about going digital!

When filing taxes I am making sure I keep track of all of the blogging expenses as well as profits that I make but I also run a small business selling on Ebay so that can really get stressful during tax season if I don’t get organized.

Tax Season Prep

I was able to organize all of my products for sale with the shipping labels, I just typed out what I use each bin for and slapped it on, now everything is easy to find when it’s time to ship!

Tax Season Prepare

I also was able to keep my return address label as well as my thank you note saved so all I have to do when I make a sale is type up the buyers information and hit print. Now my envelopes being shipped look professional and have a personal touch from me to my customers. Plus I can print my postage from home using the DYMO LabelWriter® 450.
