17 Cute Date Ideas for this Winter

17 Cute Date Ideas for this Winter

The weather might be getting colder, but now’s the time to heat your romance up! These 17 date ideas for the winter are sure to make sparks fly – and we’re not just talking about the fireplace.

Netflix and Chill
As if you needed another reason to cozy up to your significant other, the colder weather makes the perfect excuse to stay inside and cuddle up. Kick back and get comfy with a movie marathon on Netflix.

Sunset Hot Chocolate
Lay down a few blankets outside and pack a picnic kit complete with snacks, hot cocoa, marshmallows and peppermint. Cuddle up to your loved one as the sun sets and the starry winter night reveals itself.

Take a Winter Walk
They named the song “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” for a reason. Take advantage of a romantic walk during the first snowfall – before it gets too gross outdoors – and warm back up with each other indoors afterwards.

Go for a Hike
Be sure to take advantage of this before the weather gets too bad. A brisk hike can be the ideal winter date for adventure-seekers looking for exercise, endorphins, and incredible views.

Go Climbing
Weather so bad that is has you trapped inside? For some fun, physical, indoor activities, consider going rock climbing! You can even challenge each other with a playful race to the top.

Make a Gingerbread House
This craft isn’t just for kids. Put a spin on this yule tide tradition and make it more adult-oriented by soaking your candy in booze.

Attend an Ugly Christmas Party
Feeling really festive? Consider hosting or attending a themed party! Be sure to participate and purchase ugly Christmas sweaters online at Tipsy Elves before showing up to these fun-filled events.

Winter Sports-Watching
For couples who follow sports, try making a night out of the next game you watch. It’s the perfect opportunity to bake those Pinterest snacks and place some prize-worthy bets.

Schedule a Spa Outing
If you’ve amassed some savings by staying indoors, consider indulging in a couple’s spa day complete with saunas, hot tubs, and massages. Nothing will feel better in the dead of winter!

Plan a Ski Trip
If you don’t know how to ski or snowboard, now’s the perfect time to learn a new skill! Retreating back to your private cabin or lodge should be motivation enough for this romantic getaway.

Go Ice Skating
Okay, this one screams winter date – even those who live in warm areas can find a local ice rink nearby. Start planning your outfit now for those cute social media posts.

Buy a Sled
If you live in the snow, nab a plastic sled available at most pharmacy chains in your area, head to a hilly area, and prepare for an adorable day date. Pro tip: this option is great for group dates!

Catch a Play
Fall and winter are peak theater seasons; why not go out for a laugh at a musical or comedy? The budget-minded city folk can always refer to Groupon for good deals on tickets.

Crack Open a Cookbook
Somewhere in your household lies a cookbook collecting dust. Flip it open to a random page and pick up the ingredients to make something sizzle outside of your comfort zone.

Make Fondue
While you’re cooking, try your hand at fondue! Be sure to add wine to complement your meal as you enjoy your warm, gooey cheese by the fireplace.

Make S’mores
Finding yourself in front of the fireplace pretty regularly? Put a spin on your favorite camping pastime by using the open flame to whip up some s’mores.

Build a Fort
After you get a little stir crazy from staying in doors for so long, relive some childhood excitement by gathering blankets and sheets to build your very own fort. Add candles to supply lighting in which you can snuggle up for hours.

You’re probably freezing, but your romance shouldn’t be! The next time you’re feeling uninspired, refer back to this list for some fun and fabulous winter dates.

Love these ideas. My husband and I hadnt gone out on a date in over 8 years and we did just a few weeks ago but the reality is we can't do it often. We have 7 kids and its tough so we do things at home. All of these would be great for us to do even if we got a sitter for just a little bit while the kids sleep!

These are simply the cutest! I just love how romantic hot chocolate at sunset sounds and why in the world haven't we made s'mores over the fireplace in the living room before? You'll be proud of us though, in just a couple of weeks we're hosting an ugly sweater party. It's our first and I can't wait to see what everyone shows up wearing. x

It's really important for everyone to have fun date nights, especially in the winter when we all get a little comfortable with staying in and getting a bit bored. I love the idea of the sunset hot chocolate.

These are fun! Hubs and I love to indulge in the spa days. A hot sauna, a massage and a nice meal (and mimosa for me) - yes, please lol! There's a hike I want to do in the winter, too - we've done in spring and fall, but I don't know if I am brave enough. The photos would be beautiful, though!

These are some fun ideas. Our favorite thing to do this time of the year is go to Christmas or holiday themed plays or shows. It is a great way to get into the spirit of the season and enjoy a nice evening out on the town!
