Adults and kids alike will enjoy the natural sweetness and creamy base of bananas covered in rich melted chocolate topped with the perfect crunch.

INGREDIENTS
- 4 Bananas: Choose ripe but firm bananas with slight browning for the perfect sweetness and texture.
- 2 Cups of Chocolate Chips: Opt for high-quality chocolate chips for a smoother coating.
- 1 Cup of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios™: These add a delightful crunch and a touch of cinnamon flavor and you can easily customize this recipe by using your favorite cereal.
- 8 Skewers or Popsicle Sticks: Essential for creating the perfect pop that’s easy to eat.

HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE-COVERED BANANA POPS
Prepare the Bananas: Start by peeling your bananas. Then insert a skewer or popsicle stick into the center of each banana. Place them on a baking sheet lined with freezer paper and freeze for about an hour. This ensures the bananas are firm enough for dipping and coating.
Crush the Cereal: While the bananas are freezing, place the Apple Cinnamon Cheerios™ in a sandwich bag. Use a rolling pin to crush the cereal into fine crumbs, then transfer the crumbs to a plate. This will be the coating for your banana pops.

Melt the Chocolate: In a small saucepan, melt the chocolate chips over low heat, stirring continuously to avoid burning. Once the chocolate is smooth and fully melted, remove it from the heat.
Dip and Coat: Take the frozen bananas out of the freezer. Dip each banana into the melted chocolate, making sure it’s fully coated. Immediately roll the chocolate-covered banana in the crushed Apple Cinnamon Cheerios. Be sure to press gently to ensure the crumbs adhere to the chocolate.
Serve and Enjoy: You can serve these pops immediately for a gooey center, or return them to the freezer until fully frozen for a firmer treat. Either way, they’re sure to be a hit!

FLAVOR IDEAS, VARIATIONS FOR BANANA POPS
These banana pops are simple and delicious as-is, but here are some flavor suggestions if you want to add a variety of flavors to your finished chocolate banana pops.
- Experiment with Toppings – While Apple Cinnamon Cheerios™ add a unique flavor, you can also try other cereals. Add in chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or even sprinkles for a different twist.
- Vegan Option – Use dairy-free chocolate chips to make this recipe vegan-friendly.
- Flaky Salt – Sprinkle on coarse salt for all my sweet & salty-loving friends!
- Banana and Peanut Butter Bars – Mix in peanut butter to create a delicious homemade banana peanut butter bar treat.
STORAGE & RECIPE NOTES
These pops can be stored in the freezer for up to two weeks. This makes them a convenient treat to have on hand when a sweet craving strikes.
If you do decide to add toppings to your bananas, do this immediately after you dunk each banana in melted chocolate. The chocolate hardens quickly, so you will need to work quickly.

These treats are commonly known as Chocobananos or chocolate-covered banana pops. Whether frozen or freshly made, they offer a delightful mix of creamy banana and smooth chocolate.
The origin of chocolate-covered frozen bananas is often credited to Balboa Island, where several local spots claim to have introduced this tasty treat. Both Dad’s Donuts and Sugar ‘n Spice are known for their versions. Each boasts of being the first to serve this iconic dessert.
