I’m a blogger based in Iowa who loves to cook, create, and travel with my family. Although I grew up on the East Coast, I have lived all of my adult life in the Midwest, thanks to my husband who is originally from Illinois.
When we had our daughter we decided that Iowa was the place to raise our little family and we have been exploring the state, and the entire midwest, ever since.
I especially love all things related to food, family, and fun.
I’ve always felt that I see the world differently than most and this site allows me to share my perspective. Being different comes in handy as a blogger and I thrive on that.
I like to share unique travel destinations, healthy versions of traditional recipes, and homemaking tips but you can find a variety of useful articles throughout the site.
While I moved a lot as a kid, I didn’t get to see the places I wanted to see or the way that I wanted to see them.
So with this blog, I am sharing my unique perspective on travel and highlighting all of the interesting experiences I have all over the country.
What Do I Mean By Unique Travel Destinations?
I love to share hidden gems like oldest ongoing ice cream/soda parlor in the world and a vacation rental that lets you sleep with the cows.
In an effort to keep my travel ideas unique, I often feature popular destinations in a new way that intrigues my readers like when I explored Las Vegas in an RV and when I shared the unexpected things you will see during a visit to Yellowstone National Park.
One of my most popular features is a series of four posts highlighting the best rock n’ roll history locations in the midwest.
The Midwest rock n’ roll road trip took me on a musical adventure with lots of exciting stops throughout Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, three different states, all with rich musical histories.
I also had a blast going back to my home state to highlight The Best TV & Movie Locations in New Jersey and eating my favorite New Jersey Foods that I think everyone should try.
What Kind of Recipes Do I Share?
After being diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Ulcerative Colitis which left me hospitalized for 50 days and changed my life forever, I decided to take charge of my health and share my best tips.
This includes information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet which has helped any people heal themselves with food.
I have found that eating gluten-free and avoiding sugar has helped me the most, so I often make keto and low-carb recipes as well.

What Do I Do For Fun?
Besides traveling to unique travel destinations and hitting the occasional garage sale, I like to stay home and enjoy homemaking.
Seriously, I actually enjoy cleaning and making my own cleaning products, it is a great stress reliever for me. I also enjoy working out, running with my hound dog Daisy, and spending time with my family to unwind.
I am an avid gardener, so I will often share useful information that has helped my garden to thrive like this comprehensive guide that shows you how to make your own miracle grow.

I also enjoy doing DIY projects, home improvements, and upcycling garage sale finds. On special occasions, I go to concerts but I am an introvert so I usually avoid crowds whenever possible.
Sometimes I power through the anxiety in order to enjoy a great experience like when my daughter and I got to see LS Dunes first show and she got into the media pit to shoot My Chemical Romance at Riot Fest.
