The Best TV & Movie Locations in New Jersey

I recently had the chance to explore some of the most recognizable tv and movie locations in New Jersey. I have always enjoyed visiting famous locations and it turns out that there is no shortage of TV & movie locations to explore here.

Since there are so many famous locations, I wasn’t able to visit them all but I did get to see many locations from my favorite movies and television shows.

New Jersey Homes Made Famous by Television

At the top of my New Jersey filming locations list was the gorgeous house made famous by the show The Sopranos. New Jersey has many filming locations made famous by The Sopranos but it would have taken more time than I had to see them all. So I headed right to my favorites which are conveniently located a short trip from the airport.

I was hoping to see the backyard but didn’t want to trespass or disturb any of the neighbors so this area was off-limits. The way the homes on this street are set up, there is really no way to get a look behind the home but the front of the home is easily accessible.

Sopranos fans can easily recognize the driveway where Tony Soprano grabbed the newspaper on many occasions throughout the series. Fans will also enjoy seeing the front entrance of this home which appeared on the show countless times.

The Setting of an Iconic Scene in Television History

One of the most memorable scenes from the series in my opinion is the final scene which leaves fans scratching their heads to this day about what could have happened next. This iconic piece of Sopranos history takes place in a restaurant and ice cream parlor named Holsten’s.

The inside of this restaurant looks just like it did in the show and customers can even sit in The Sopranos booth. The staff is very friendly to fans of the show and they are happy to show you why Tony Soprano liked their onion rings so much, after all, they are the best in the state as far as he is concerned.

Fans can check out photos from the filming of the show and have a meal at Holsten’s. Take some homemade chocolates for the road and try a vanilla milkshake while you are there, they will not disappoint.

Another famous spot from the last scene of The Sopranos is the street right outside of Holsten’s. You can see the street where Meadow struggled to find a parking spot in the last episode.

Guilty Pleasure TV Locations in New Jersey

While Sopranos fans are pretty vocal about their love for the show, New Jersey is also home to a filming location usually referred to as a guilty pleasure. MTV’s Jersey Shore brings viewers to the boardwalk of Seaside Heights.

Fans can visit the home away from home where the cast once resided and even tour or rent out the shore home.

Fans who just want to take a look without spending any money can drive up to the famous home and take a picture in front of the iconic garage.

Just around the corner fans can shop in the famous Shore Store where all of their favorite cast members once worked. Here you will find everything related to the show and can get your own custom shirt made for T-shirt time.

Danny, the owner of this boardwalk shop also made a few appearances on the hit show and can be found inside the shop regularly. He seems happy to take photos with fans so don’t be afraid to ask while in the store.

While in the area, take a stroll down the boardwalk so you can visit the bar where Snooki got punched. Just a few minutes from the Shore Store, the Beachcomber bar offers drinks, food, and music for a reasonable price.

Horror Film Locations in New Jersey

Horror movie fans can visit Camp Crystal Lake from the movie Friday the 13th. While the name is different and you aren’t likely to catch a glimpse of Jason Voorhees while there, you can see the setting of this horror classic.

Fans can take a tour of the location where most of the movie was filmed. Head over to Crystal Lake Tours for more information.

Camp Nobebosco is located at 11 Sand Pond Road, Hardwick, NJ

Amityville Horror House

Even the biggest horror film buffs may not recognize this home made famous by the movie The Amityville Horror. Although this is where the film was made the home has changed quite a bit over the years due to fire damage.

When the movie was filmed the set designers changed the appearance of the side of the house to make it resemble the actual home where the murders took place.

This famous home is a short drive from Seaside Heights so if you are in the area visiting the boardwalk, be sure to add this location to your itinerary.

Small Town Movie Locations in New Jersey

Another famous location that isn’t too far from the shore is the setting of the movie Coyote Ugly. This movie features the greatest pizza place in New Jersey so it’s definitely worth the drive, even if you aren’t a big fan of the movie.

I only watched the movie when I found out it was filmed in my favorite pizza shop but I find it so cool that fans of this film can step right into a scene from the movie when visiting Delio’s.

Head inside for a glimpse at the pizza parlor where the main character, Piper worked. While you won’t run into John Goodman or any of the other characters while inside, you are most likely going to see the owners who are local celebrities in their own right.

Mama and Papa Delio as they are lovingly referred to by those of us who grew up eating there still, run the place. This means that the food will always be done right and you can count on getting the best pizza and Italian food that New Jersey has to offer in this famous location.

Delio’s Pizza is located at 120 N Broadway, South Amboy, NJ
