Finding the Best Diet Plan

The new year has begun and a lot of people are trying to find the best diet plan that they can actually stick to throughout the year and lose the weight they so desperately have been trying to shed in the past.

When searching for the best diet plan it can be overwhelming because there are so many options and even more claims that this one or that one is the quickest way to lose weight. Instead of setting yourself up for failure, doing a little research and finding the best diet plan that will actually work for you is worth the effort.

It seems like every day there is a new infomercial or ad for a diet that is guaranteed to make you lose weight faster than ever before or easier than any other diet. I have even heard of some diets that claim to change the way your body processes foods and you can lose weight with just one simple change.

This is not true at all! If you are overweight chances are you need to make a complete overhaul of the way you eat and how you see foods in general.

The average person has no idea what is actually healthy anymore due to the constant claims by big companies that their products are made with whole ingredients, fat-free, low calorie, sugar-free, and many other phrases they slap on a label to fool consumers into thinking they are making a smart choice.

Most of these claims are not only false but they are there to distract you from what else has been put into the products, learn more about secret ingredients not listed on the food label here.

Finding the Best Diet Plan

The best way to know what is actually in the foods we eat is to only eat foods without a label. Unfortunately, that truly is the only way to know for sure what you and your family are consuming.

When trying to find the best diet plan, healthy eating should be the most important factor and it is also the quickest way to lose weight.

A few diets that incorporate healthy, real foods into your weightloss journey are:

The Specific Carbohydrate Diet, this is my personal favorite because it has helped me heal as well as many others with a variety of illnesses as well as lose weight fast. I didn’t start the diet out trying to lose weight, that was a pleasant side effect in my journey of getting healthy after the diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis. You can pick up the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle and get started losing weight immediately after implementing the diet plan.

Another diet that has helped many heal themselves from disease without poisonous medicines is the The Paleo Diet. This diet has also helped many lose weight and incorporates real food that doesn’t come in a package.

Lose the Weight

I like both of these diets because portion control has never been my thing. On SCD (the Specific Carbohydrate Diet) I can eat whatever I want within the diet at any time I want without any measuring, ever! That is a great thing for those of us with a large appetite and very little patience. At certain points in the diet, I was eating ice cream for breakfast, cookies for lunch, pizza for dinner, and still losing weight!

Some people do great with portion control and if that sounds like you then the 21 Day Fix may be the diet you are looking for.

A few diets that seemed to be popular lately that may be worth looking into are The Whole30, The Negative Calorie Diet, and 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse. These are all great options if you want to shed a few pounds and incorporate more healthy foods into your diet.

Best Diet Plan

While choosing which diet plan will work for you keep in mind that any lifestyle change is going to be hard to adjust to but if you really commit yourself, eating healthy will become your new normal.

  1. I am looking forward to getting back on track this year. I have been eating like crap lately and need to get back to working out.

  2. I started back on counting calories in the fall, and I’m going to continue with that. It’s the only thing that works for me! I use Sparkpeople.com, and it does wonders for me. Just seeing a log of what I’m eating everyday is motivation for me to cut back, no exercise needed!

  5. Thanks for listing these, I am doing my research to incorporate the best ones for my husband and I.
I’ve never been able to follow through on a diet plan for more than a few days, I blame my will power to eat when we are not home. This year we have set up an eating out schedule of Saturdays only, to try and follow through with a better eating routine.

  6. I’m one of those stuck in the vicious cycle. I buckle down and get serious … lose a lot of weight … and then eventually just gain it all back. I’ve recently lost 15 pounds, which is just a fraction of what I need to lose, but I’m proud that – even though I’ve stopped losing – I have kept those 15 off!

  7. I love the way you reviewed all of the different diets.

My husband and I both got quite lazy last year in regard to watching what we ate, and we need to find a plan that works well for both of us. I clicked on your link for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, and I will give it a read through.

  8. I have never really followed a diet…I just eat clean and eat what makes me feel good. Which means, no dairy, gluten, or meat for me!

  14. I have one big thing in my favor, I love to run! I got hooked sometime ago and haven’t looked back. When I sign up for races it keeps me motivated and on track. I change my diet up a bit as race day approaches and have found it takes a few weeks to make diet changes a habit. When I stop eating refined sugars my mood initially changes for the worse, at least from what my wife says, but after a short time my body adjusts. Right now, my wife and I are both training for a spring marathon so we lean on each for encouragement and strength when it comes to raiding the pantry!
