This french bread pizza is cooked on the grill to perfection.
When the weather is nice I like to take advantage and cook on the grill as much as possible. I have even converted some of my favorite recipes to be cooked on the grill like this French Bread Pizza. This is the perfect way to avoid heating your house up on those Summer days and adding a new exciting flavor to a classic recipe.
I first learned how to make French Bread Pizza in Home Economics class in the seventh grade. I loved how simple the recipe was and couldn’t wait to make it at home for my family. I think that may be the first thing I ever cooked for my family that they hadn’t already eaten a ton of times, I was introducing a new dinner and making it all by myself, how exciting!
I have kept the basics of this recipe throughout the years because I love how simple it is to prepare and serve.
All you will need to make this recipe is a loaf of french bread, pizza sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, and Mezzetta jalapenos.
I picked up the Mezzetta jalapenos at my local grocery store and found that in the condiment aisle.
Fire up your grill and wait for the flame to reduce, add a pizza stone to the top of your grill to prevent direct contact with the flame.
Slice a loaf of French bread in half both ways creating four pieces. Add sauce.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of each slice and add the toppings, my favorites are pepperoni and jalapeno peppers.
I like to fry my pepperoni before adding it to the pizza because it gives it a nice crispiness. This only takes about 5 minutes over high heat flipping halfway through.
Add the prepared French bread pizza to the pizza stone placed on the barbecue grill. Cook until the cheese melts and the bread is showing a nice light brown crisp on the outside. Depending on the height of your flames this can take about 7-10 minutes.
