Keto Friendly Peanut Butter Cups

I have tried different fat bombs that can be found in the grocery stores in the low carb food section but I have found that they are not the best way to enjoy low carb treats.

It is nice to pick up premade foods at times because usually, the grams of net carbs are right on the nutrition label, there is no need to think about which can be a great option for a quick snack.

Unfortunately, a lot of the commercial brands contain many random ingredients like vegetable oils, palm oil, and a variety of peanut butter brands.

I like knowing what goes into my keto peanut butter cups and by having this information, I know what goes into my body.

Selecting the Right Keto Friendly Peanut Butter

There are many brands that sell peanut butter keto options but my favorite is this keto peanut butter.

I feel like I am getting high-quality peanut butter that is perfect for a low-carb lifestyle but without the high price tag.

I have always loved nut butters, when I was a kid I usually consumed the peanut butter brands with added sugars but as an adult, I love nothing more than natural peanut butter.

I am sure there are higher quality products on the market that are known as keto peanut butter but I am happy with this brand.

It tastes great and is an easy way to keep my carb content down when enjoying treats on the ketogenic diet.

You can use organic peanut butter, cashew butter, almond butter, or any seed butter for these peanut butter cups.

Just be sure to check the nutrition label to find out how many grams of carbs the peanut butter contains. This only applies if you are following a low-carb diet and looking for keto-friendly peanut butter.

You can make this recipe with any peanut butter you choose. This recipe is just a great way to stay in a state of ketosis without depriving yourself of delicious treats.

What You’ll Need to Make Keto Friendly Peanut Butter Cups

Tools that Make This Recipe Easy

Using a food processor to mix ingredients can speed up the process but you can mix with a hand mixer, stand mixer, or a little elbow grease and a spoon.

Using paper liners will make this recipe more uniform and you won’t have to use nonstick spray for the muffin tin.

I don’t mind this step because I don’t usually have the small muffin liners on hand and I prefer to use the small muffin tin when making this recipe.

How to Make Keto Friendly Peanut Butter Cups

This keto friendly peanut butter cup recipe has three different layers which means that this process has three different steps.

The first step starts with spraying a muffin tin with nonstick spray.

The next step is to mix together the peanut butter, liquid stevia, cocoa powder, vanilla, and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a bowl.

After the ingredients are mixed thoroughly, pour an even layer into each muffin tin. Put the muffin tin in the freezer for about 10 minutes while moving on to the next step.

The second step is the peanut butter layer. This layer is made by mixing coconut oil, peanut butter, vanilla, and liquid stevia. Once the ingredients are combined, add an even amount to the muffin tins, on top of the bottom chocolate layer.

You can pop the muffin tin back in the freezer if you’d like, this will help keep your treats looking pretty.

I usually skip this step because I prepare this recipe when the craving for a delicious keto peanut butter cup hits me and I am too impatient to let it get pretty.

But if you think ahead and want a pretty treat, pop it back in the freezer for a few minutes to allow the peanut butter layer to harden.

The top layer is made by microwaving chocolate chips and heavy cream for 30 seconds. Mix the combination together and pop it back into the microwave for a few more seconds if it is not melted enough.

Pour the mixture evenly over the peanut butter layer, then freeze for another 5-10 minutes before eating.

Variations on this Keto Friendly Peanut Butter Cup Recipe

You can use any size muffin tin you would like but I use this muffin/cupcake pan because it allows me to make many small treats.

You can add in nuts to give these keto peanut butter cups a fun texture. Sometimes I add in peanuts or almonds for an extra crunch.

If you aren’t a fan of peanuts or almonds, there are many options like chia seeds or other varieties of nuts.

Macadamia nuts are some of my favorites to crush up and add to the chocolate before it hardens.

Try out your favorites and see what you can come up with, I would love to hear about your creations so be sure to save this post and come back later to comment about your experience.

One of my favorite hobbies is figuring out how to turn my favorite recipes into low carb version so I have experimented in the kitchen with peanut butter quite a bit.

Some of my favorite peanut butter recipes are these low carb peanut butter balls, this Easy Low Carb No Churn Keto Chocolate Ice Cream with Peanut Butter Chunks, and this low carb peanut butter pie recipe.

I also love a good chocolate treat so these low carb chocolate chip cookies don’t last long in my home. I also consume more of this chocolate fudge recipe without condensed milk more than I care to admit.

It can be easy to get carried away while following a high-fat diet or even a moderate fat diet with high protein.

Watching your daily carb intake can be difficult because it can be a struggle to only eat small amounts of your favorite foods.

That’s why I love the keto lifestyle, I have found a way to enjoy the best foods that are part of a keto diet by changing a few ingredients.

It can be easy to overindulge at times, this is especially true for me when I am making keto desserts that include peanut butter.

When making peanut butter cookies I find myself consuming too much peanut butter. I usually consume what is left on the spoon, and the bowl if we are being honest, which can add up to several tablespoons of peanut butter.

Those calories count too! Be sure to do the math on which peanut butter you are using so you know exactly how many carbs are in a serving of peanut butter.
