I am a fan of everything pumpkin flavored and when experimenting with creating recipes with mini pumpkins I was so excited to create this keto pumpkin mousse dessert.

Although this is a Fall-themed dessert, it is so good that I want to be able to make it all year long.

Obviously mini pumpkins are hard to come by for the rest of the year but you can use canned pumpkin to recreate this delicious keto pumpkin mousse with cream cheese any time of the year.

This is the perfect low-carb recipe to serve during the Fall months because you can get your hands on as many mini pumpkins as you want.

They are naturally gluten-free and using a mini-pumpkin to serve recipes for keto pumpkin mousse is a great way to bring this Fall dessert to the next level.

Ingredients Needed for Keto Pumpkin Mousse

To make this keto pumpkin mousse you will need heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, stevia, vanilla, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and 2 mini pumpkins.

If you are making this recipe out of season and can’t get your hands on any mini pumpkins for baking, you can use canned pumpkin puree.

How to Prepare Mini Pumpkins for Roasting

The first step in preparing mini pumpkins for roasting is to wash and scrub away any dirt. While you will not be eating the outside of the mini pumpkins, it’s best to get them as clean as possible.

They will be holding your food so be sure to rub off any dirt and rinse them clean before moving on to the next step.

Cut the top section off of the mini pumpkin, creating a lid and leaving a bowl behind.

Sprinkle cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice into the center.

This will not only add a nice flavor to the base of the pumpkin but your entire house will smell amazing while cooking these mini pumpkins in the air fryer.

Line an air fryer rack with a piece of parchment paper, and cut to fit if needed.

When using parchment paper or aluminum foil in the air fryer if the pieces are too big they can block the airflow.

This can not only lead to altered cooking times but could break the air fryer, so it’s best to cut to fit.

Place the pumpkin’s flesh side down onto the parchment paper-lined racks then slide them into the air fryer.

How to Make Keto Pumpkin Mousse

Bake the mini pumpkins filled with spices for 20 minutes in an air fryer set at 300 degrees.

Allow the mini pumpkins to cool off before moving on to the next step.

Scrape the pumpkin filling out of the mini pumpkins and add it to a food processor along with the rest of the ingredients except the heavy cream.

Run the food processor on high for about 30 seconds. Check to make sure everything is mixed well and then add in the cream.

Turn the food processor to high again but this time let the ingredients mix for about one minute. The time needed for the whipped heavy cream can vary depending on the temperature of your ingredients.

If the homemade pumpkin puree hasn’t cooled completely, it can bring the temperature of the heavy whipping cream up pretty quickly, which can impact the texture.

When whipping the heavy cream, the general rule is to whip until stiff peaks form but this can be hard to tell when using a food processor.

I usually check after one minute but it wouldn’t hurt to check every thirty seconds if you are concerned with getting the perfect whipped cream texture.

When the keto pumpkin mousse is done it will look like the texture in the photo below.

Why Use Mini Pumpkins for this Recipe?

There are many uses for mini pumpkins and when I picked these from the garden I wanted them to be more than just a decoration since carving a pumpkin this small is not exactly easy.

When making homemade pumpkin puree, mini pumpkins are best so this is one of the best ways to use mini pumpkins but I wanted something a little different.

I searched all over the place for different ways to use mini pumpkins and could only find ways to bake mini pumpkins.

Not one of the mini pumpkin recipes showed how to bake mini pumpkins in the air fryer so I started experimenting and I am so glad that I did!

The puree really adds a bold flavor to this keto-whipped pumpkin mousse.

This sounds amazing. I didn't plant any mini pumpkins this year because there really doesn't seem to be many ways to use them, this is a great idea.
